How to word your wedding invitations + FREE GUIDE
Your invitations the first impression and glimpse that your guests will have of your wedding and are there to build anticipation and excitement. Of course, they also need to convey a lot of important information and it can be a minefield knowing what to write.
Luckily, I’m here to help! I live and breathe wedding invitations and have worked with everything from formal and traditional to super-playful. I’ve put together a few pointers below to help get you started.

What should you include?
It doesn’t matter how formal or otherwise you intend to go, your wedding invitations need to convey certain information:
No matter their style or your degree of formality, when it comes to the right wording for your wedding invitations, be sure to include:
Names or acknowledgement of who is hosting - if this is you, you can skip to the next line!
Your names. Traditionally this would be both first and surname, but this personal preference these days
Where the ceremony is taking place
Date, month and year of the wedding ceremony
Location of the wedding reception if different to the ceremony
RSVP information, including a date to reply by
You may also wish to include:
Dress code details
An end time if your venue dictates this
Whether children are invited
There is obviously lots more you could consider, for example if you are having a destination wedding or a celebration that spans several days, there is vital information that you will need to communicate outside of your main invitation. Additionally, depending where you are in life, choosing not to invite children may need some diplomatic wording!
