Editorial: Glam Gatsby Vibes at Kent Venue Hayne House
I have adored 1920’s style for as long as I can remember. Even my own wedding was a nod to the styles of the era, with a modern take on the look. So when I was asked to provide the stationery for this Great Gatsby-inspired shoot at the stunning Hayne House in Kent, I jumped at the opportunity! And, for a shoot with its aesthetic firmly set in the “roaring twenties”, it seemed fitting to supply letterpressed stationery, a process that would have been in its heyday in the era we were presenting.
The shoot was organised and styled by makeup artist, Becky Downton and photographer, Masha Unwerth who takes an elegant, fashion-led editioral approach to her work. I created a letterpressed suite featuring my own elegant calligraphy, digitised for the letterpress process, and ink splatter detail - a nod to the bursts of ink that sometimes land on the page when writing with a dip or fountain pen.
Envelopes were addressed in beautiful gold ink with splatters, and bound with an elegant racing green bellyband. Menus for the table were kept simple and classy, with a calligraphy name tag carefully attached to a letterpress menu using a gold wax seal.
